workflow comment

Comment on an issue, in Jira or on the forge, with the text on standard input

Synopsis

Comment on an issue with the text read from standard input to its end — as git commit -F - reads a message — so a script never quotes it; at a terminal, end the text with Ctrl+D. A Jira issue’s comment is written in Markdown and posted as Jira’s markup when jira.markdown_comments is on, as the interface posts one; a forge issue’s is Markdown. The comment, as it will be stored, is printed and confirmed before it is posted.

workflow comment <issue> [flags]

Examples

git log -1 --format=%B | workflow comment PROJ-7 --yes # the text on stdin, never quoted

Options

  -h, --help help for comment
-y, --yes go ahead without the confirmation

Options inherited from parent commands

-n, --dry-run hold back every write to Jira, the forge, the messaging service, Taskwarrior, git and files, and say what it would have done
--log-format FORMAT say what goes to stderr as FORMAT: text, or json or logfmt, an entry a line stamped with its time (default text)
-q, --quiet say only warnings, errors and questions on stderr, leaving every note out
--request-log FILE append a one-line outline of each request (method, path, status, duration) to FILE, for a bug report
--verbose also say each request's outline on stderr, as a debug line (not while the terminal interface draws)
